چکیده

We analyze and present an input gain-varying scheme for maximizing dynamic range in a well-known Gm–C bandpass filter by both minimizing noise for small input signals, and by achieving balanced swing levels at all filter nodes for large input signals. A micropower bandpass filter suitable for use in cochlear implants and other powerconstrained biomedical applications was implemented and tested in subthreshold CMOS. At a center frequency of 1.4kHz and quality factor of 4, the filter has 70dB of dynamic range (57dB maximum SNR, 2.5% total harmonic distortion (THD)) and consumes 2.55μW of power.

Design of Highly Linear CMOS Gm-Cell for Continuous time filter Applications

There are various filter types that are appropriate for the implementation of on-chip continuous time filters. Those are active-RC filters, switched-capacitor filters and Gm-C filters. Though high linearity is an advantage of both active-RC and switched-capacitor filters, these filters have a disadvantage of operating at high frequency ranges due to the limitation of the unity bandwidth of the ...

5.5 A forward-body-bias tuned 450MHz Gm-C 3rd-order low-pass filter in 28nm UTBB FD-SOI with >1dBVp IIP3 over a 0.7-to-1V supply

Due to the absence of internal nodes, inverter-based Gm-C filters [1,2] allow achieving bandwidths beyond what is possible with opamp-RC techniques. The inverter’s class-AB behavior, together with the high transconductance per quiescent current, results in a high dynamic range per power when optimally biased [3]. The major disadvantage of traditional inverter-based GmC filters is that they are ...

A Practical Micropower Programmable Bandpass Filter for Use in Bionic Ears

Subthreshold filters offer the low power and wide tunable range required for use in fully implantable bionic ears. The major design challenge that must be met is increasing the linear range. A capacitive-attenuation technique is presented and refined to allow the construction of wide-linear-range bandpass filters with greater than 1 pp swings. For a 100–200 Hz fully differential filter with sec...

A 0.3-to-1.2GHz tunable 4th-order switched gm-C bandpass filter with >55dB ultimate rejection and out-of-band IIP3 of +29dBm

The trend towards reconfigurable receivers requires on-chip flexible filters that can replace dedicated, bulky and non-tunable filters (e.g. SAW and BAW [1]). Although BAW filters are compatible with silicon processes, their center frequency is sensitive to thickness variation of the piezoelectric material and the achievable tuneability is limited [1]. Other techniques to make RF on-chip Band P...
